Locallista Guarantee

How the Locallista Guarantee works

The Locallista Guarantee is available only in some of the markets where we operate, and only for some categories. Where it’s available, you’ll see the Locallista Guarantee badge on the business page.

We trust the businesses listed on Locallista, and we’re ready to vouch for their work. If the work isn’t right, have someone else redo it, and we pay you back your extra cost (the lower of the two invoices), up to €750.

It’s free. We don’t sell it and there is nothing to buy.

How it works

  1. 1

    Request and agree

Find a business with the Locallista Guarantee badge, request its contact details on Locallista, then agree the service with it. Already know the business? Request its details here again before you talk about the new service.

  2. 2

    Activate

Once the service is scheduled, activate your free guarantee on the business page, at least 12 hours before it starts. From that moment you have 28 days to file a claim.

  3. 3

Problem with the work? Get it redone

Tell the business, have any provider you like do it again, and send us both paid invoices. We pay you back your extra cost (the lower of the two invoices), up to €750 per service.

The rules in short

  • Only for a business you found and contacted through Locallista. If you talked about the service with the business before you requested its details on Locallista, it isn’t covered.
  • Activate only once the service is booked or scheduled, at least 12 hours before it starts. Activating without hiring may restrict your use of the guarantee later.
  • You can have one active guarantee in each category at a time.
  • It covers work the business completed, where the work wasn’t done properly and another provider did the same work again. Unfinished work isn’t covered.
  • Before anyone does the work again, tell the business in writing (WhatsApp, SMS or email) and keep a copy. The business may offer to fix it; you don’t have to accept.
  • We pay you back your extra cost (the lower of the two invoices), up to €750 per service. Under €25 we can’t pay.
  • Up to 2 claims can be filed in 24 months per family, address or household (see the terms).
  • Some categories have their own rules: see what’s covered on the business page and in the terms.

Our principles

  • We trust the businesses on Locallista. The guarantee is free because we trust the businesses we list, and we’re ready to vouch for their work. It’s a reimbursement service provided by Locallista under the Guarantee Terms, not a guarantee of the quality or outcome of the business’s work.
  • It’s free, and it isn’t insurance. We don’t sell it and there is no policy. It doesn’t replace any rights you have against the business.
  • Good faith, applied strictly. We expect it to be used honestly. Because it’s free, we apply the terms strictly: a claim that doesn’t meet them isn’t paid.

Questions

Does it cost anything?
No. It’s free, and you don’t need to buy anything.
Where is it available?
Only in some markets and some categories. Look for the Locallista Guarantee badge on the business page: if you don’t see it, the business isn’t covered.
Do I need to ask Locallista before I get the work redone?
No. You decide, you book the second provider, and then you file a claim. We review a claim only after it’s filed: our team can’t review it, or answer questions about it, before then.
Can I choose any provider to redo the work?
Yes, any provider you like. If the second provider is also on Locallista, we aim to pay you within 7 days instead of 30.
What if the business offers to fix it?
That’s up to you. You don’t have to accept to file a claim.
I already know the business. Am I covered?
Yes, as long as you request the business’s contact details on Locallista again before you talk to them about the new service. From then on, the business knows this service goes through Locallista and will be reviewed. You will be able to provide your review of the service, and you can activate your Locallista Guarantee for it.
How long do I have to file a claim?
28 days from when you activate, whenever the work takes place. So activate close to the date of the service.
I forgot to activate, and the work has already started. Can I still activate?
No. The guarantee has to be activated at least 12 hours before the work starts. Once it has started, or is less than 12 hours away, it can’t be activated, and no claim can be made for that service.
The work is taking longer than expected. What happens after 28 days?
You have 28 days from the moment you activate to file your claim, with both invoices, so the work also has to be redone within those 28 days. Whatever the reason for a delay, by the first business or by the second provider, after 28 days we can’t accept a claim. That’s why it’s best to activate close to the date of the service.
I activated, and then the business moved the start date. Do my 28 days move too?
No. The 28 days always count from the moment you activate, and they don’t change if the service moves, for any reason. If you think the date may change, wait until it’s confirmed, and activate at least 12 hours before it starts.
What isn’t covered?
Unfinished work, extra or different work, consultations and quotes, a change of mind, a business that didn’t show up or stopped the work midway, and damage or other costs caused by the work.
How do I file a claim?
In My requested providers, open the guarantee and choose File a claim. Before you file, please read Before you file a claim.
Why are the rules so strict?
The Locallista Guarantee is free, and we offer it because we trust the businesses listed on Locallista: more than 96% of the reviews customers leave for the businesses they hired here score the work above 7 out of 10. The guarantee adds a little more peace of mind. It isn’t insurance, so its rules are simple and the same for everyone, and in a few cases a service won’t be covered.
