I engaged Taoufiq twice to unclog my kitchen sink drain, which has a very complicated old design with many turns, and two other plumbers could not figure it out. He is really dedicated and experienced, he knew exactly where it was blocked, used the right tools, and managed to clear it without damaging anything. The second time I called him back, he solved it within 15 minutes. I find him very trustworthy, professional, friendly, and easy to work with, although a bit expensive.

Max came to my kitchen for a drainage issue and he solved that perfectly. During that visit we also made plans for a new bathroom and a new toilet downstairs, and he did that as well. I had very good contact with him, we made clear agreements in advance, the price felt fair, and he was very flexible when I changed a few things during the construction. Any points that came up where I was not completely satisfied, he solved neatly.

Taoufiq is great. He helped me with a plumbing job in Rotterdam and solved my problem after two other plumbers weren't able to, then later he helped me install my sink in Amsterdam. He was absolutely fantastic both times, really helped me out, and his rates felt very reasonable. He is a nice guy, trustworthy, and I have really nothing negative to say about him.
Frequently Asked Questions
What people want to know before hiring plumbers in Amsterdam.
What should I check before hiring plumbers in Amsterdam?
Read recent reviews, be clear about exactly what you need, and agree the scope and a price in writing before any work starts. For anything regulated, check the credential yourself rather than taking it on trust.
Are prices in Amsterdam quoted with or without BTW?
Check, because it varies. A price quoted to a consumer should already include BTW, and most trades do show it that way, but plenty of price lists are still written excluding it. The rate is 21% on most work, though labour on a home more than two years old is taxed at 9%, and so are things like sports and fitness classes. Look for the word "inclusief" or "exclusief" next to the figure before you compare two quotes, and ask whether travel costs and parking are in there too.
How do I check a business in Amsterdam is properly registered?
Every legitimate Dutch business has a KvK number from the Chamber of Commerce, and you can look it up free in the public register. For gas, heating and electrical work there are extra schemes worth asking about, mainly SCIOS and InstallQ. A business that will not give you its KvK number is a reason to walk away.
What is the most important thing to know before booking?
Be clear about what you want and get the price and scope agreed up front, so there are no surprises. Reading other people's reviews is the quickest way to find someone who does the job well and turns up when they said they would.
What should I avoid when hiring plumbers in Amsterdam?
Avoid paying the full amount up front (a deposit can be fair), anyone who will not give a clear quote, and unusually cheap prices that get padded with extras later.
How do I find plumbers I can trust in Amsterdam?
Check the reviews and any credentials before you book. On Locallista the reviews are phone-verified and the ranking is based on real experience, not who paid the most.
