I went on one of Tomy’s first in person group walking tours in Singapore with my mom and some friends, and it was fabulous. It was a really nice mix of seeing places we knew of but did not have all the deep history on, and finding a few unique things we did not know existed, like the underground tunnel from the Fullerton Hotel to the Merlion. We started around Raffles Place MRT, walked past the Fullerton Hotel, Merlion and some government buildings, ended up on a rooftop, and finished at Chijmes. It exceeded expectations, and we would definitely go on another one of his tours and keep recommending him to other people.

I found Tomy through his YouTube channel and booked a private walking tour when we were in Singapore for the Grand Prix. We thoroughly enjoyed it, it was about 3.5 to 4 hours and we got to see some of the more unusual parts of the city that we had not seen before, even though we had been to Singapore before. He is quite a character and definitely knows his history, so it felt like a really unique perspective on Singapore. I thought the price was reasonable and we will use him again next year.

We loved the tour with Tomy and had so much fun. He is just like he is in his YouTube clips, so animated, spectacular, and really knowledgeable about the city, and he made everything easy by sending pictures of exactly where to meet. We started at Raffles, went underneath, saw the Merlion, and ended up at the top of the Gallery because my daughter wanted to do that, and I even learned how to get to the Fullerton Hotel and pop out by the Merlion for the first time. He also bought us little treats, gave us postcards to write to ourselves, and mailed them to us after, and the tour even ran longer than expected, which made it feel like a really good deal.

Frequently Asked Questions

What people want to know before hiring tour guides in Singapore.

What should I check before hiring tour guides in Singapore?
Read recent reviews, be clear about exactly what you need, and agree the scope and a price in writing before any work starts. For anything regulated, check the credential yourself rather than taking it on trust.
How are prices quoted in Singapore?
Watch for prices shown with "++". That means 10% service charge and 9% GST are added on top, so a quoted S$100 is really about S$120. Ask whether a figure is nett before you compare two quotes.
Do I need a licensed professional in Singapore?
For some trades, yes, and it is not optional. Electrical work needs an EMA licensed electrical worker, plumbing that touches the public supply needs a PUB licensed plumber, and building work falls under BCA. Ask for the licence number.
What is the most important thing to know before booking?
Be clear about what you want and get the price and scope agreed up front, so there are no surprises. Reading other people's reviews is the quickest way to find someone who does the job well and turns up when they said they would.
What should I avoid when hiring tour guides in Singapore?
Avoid paying the full amount up front (a deposit can be fair), anyone who will not give a clear quote, and unusually cheap prices that get padded with extras later.
How do I find tour guides I can trust in Singapore?
Check the reviews and any credentials before you book. On Locallista the reviews are phone-verified and the ranking is based on real experience, not who paid the most.
