I have been training with Ben for about four months now and I am still training with him twice a week. Being an expat myself, I was looking for an expat to help me, and when I saw he was British as well I liked that I could still have a laugh and a chat to him. He seemed like a nice guy over the phone, he is great, very professional, and the price feels very reasonable for the current market. I would recommend Ben 100%.

I’ve been working with Ben for a few years now, mainly around sport, fitness, golf and posture, and not getting injured. He’s definitely helped me and I’ve definitely noticed improvements since working with him. Communication is easy, he follows things up step by step with apps and what you need to do, and I’ve got no issues with that at all. I think he’s reasonably priced and I would definitely recommend him.

Ben trains me three to four times a week, and when I get to the gym everything is prepared, my eating plan, the training, and the exercises. It is tough training, I do not go to him because it is easy, but the guy is so professional that I travel 45 minutes to come to him. He is on me all the time making sure my eating is perfect, and even when I am on holiday he follows up daily so I stick to the plan and the goals we set. I have seen a real improvement, we track everything weekly with photos and measurements, and for what he provides it feels very fair.
How much do fitness trainers cost in Amsterdam?
Real price ranges from the jobs our vetted fitness trainers actually do. Updated July 2026
At client's home
How much does a personal trainer at home cost in Amsterdam?
Expect a travel supplement on top of the trainer's normal rate, and a per-kilometre charge if you live outside their usual radius. Home sessions suit bodyweight, kettlebell and mobility work; for heavy barbell training you're better off in a gym. Ask whether the supplement drops when you book a longer block, since many trainers will negotiate it.
Home session, all in
€80 to €150 an hour
Travel supplement on the normal rate
€10 to €30 per session
Beyond roughly 10 km
plus €0.20 to €0.30 per km
At studio / gym
What does personal training at a gym or studio cost in Amsterdam?
A trainer working out of a regular gym is the cheaper option, because the club carries the rent; a private studio gives you the room to yourself and charges for it. Check whether you also need a membership at the gym, since that's sometimes billed separately. A block of 10 sessions usually knocks 10 to 15% off the per-session price.
Trainer in a regular gym
€55 to €85 an hour
Private studio, city centre
€90 to €120 an hour
Gym membership on top
sometimes charged separately
Block of 10 sessions
10 to 15% cheaper per session
Group classes
How much do group fitness classes cost in Amsterdam?
The more people in the class, the less you pay and the less attention you get; above four people it stops being personal training in any real sense. Small groups of two to four are the sweet spot if you want a trainer watching your form without paying the one-to-one rate. Ask what happens to your session if a training partner drops out.
Group class, per person
€15 to €25 a session
Small group (2 to 4), per person
€25 to €45 a session
Duo session, per person
€35 to €55 a session
Kids summer camps
How much do kids' summer sports camps cost in Amsterdam?
Camps are priced per day or per week by the organiser, and none of the price guides we read cover them, so we won't guess. Ask for the full week price, the hours, and whether lunch and materials are included. Check the ratio of coaches to kids while you're at it.

Online coaching
What does online fitness coaching cost in Amsterdam?
Online coaching is priced per month, not per hour, and there's no Amsterdam premium since the trainer isn't renting a room. The cheaper end is a programme with no live contact; the upper end gets you weekly reviews, video feedback and chat access. It works best if you already know your way around a gym; complete beginners tend to do better with a few in-person sessions first.
Programme only, no live contact
€35 to €90 a month
Coached, with weekly check-ins
€100 to €250 a month
Live video session
€30 to €50 an hour
Hybrid (1 to 2 in-person sessions a month plus online)
€200 to €450 a month
Outdoor sessions
How much does outdoor personal training cost in Amsterdam?
Training in the Vondelpark, Westerpark or the Amsterdamse Bos is usually cheaper than a studio session, because the trainer isn't paying for the space. Trainers in Noord, West and Oost work outdoors more often and sit at the lower end of the city's range. Check what happens when it rains before you buy a block.
One-to-one in a park
€45 to €80 an hour
Small outdoor group (2 to 4), per person
€25 to €45 a session
Compared with a premium studio
usually cheaper, no room hire
Personalised training plans
How much does a personalised training plan cost in Amsterdam?
If you train with a trainer, writing and updating your plan is normally part of the session price, so you only pay separately when you want the plan without the coaching. Expect a longer intake with a physical screening before any plan worth following. Nutrition advice is a separate module with most trainers, so ask whether it's included.
Written plan, no live coaching
€35 to €90 a month
Intake and physical screening (60 to 90 min)
€45 to €95
Nutrition plan as an add-on
€75 to €150 once
Personal training
How much does a personal trainer cost in Amsterdam?
Amsterdam sits 10 to 25% above the Dutch average, mostly down to studio rent, so a session in Zuid or the centre costs more than one in Noord or Nieuw-West. Prices quoted to you as a consumer include 21% BTW. Most trainers offer a free intro chat, so try two or three before you commit to a block.
Starting trainer (under 2 years)
€40 to €60 an hour
Experienced trainer
€60 to €90 an hour
Specialist (rehab, sport, pre or postnatal)
€90 to €130 an hour
Block of 10 sessions
€450 to €800
Functional training
What does functional training cost in Amsterdam?
Functional and HYROX-style training is billed like any other session, so the format decides the price: one-to-one costs the most, a small group splits the bill. Some gyms fold it into a monthly plan instead of charging per session. Ask about the trainer's certification in this style, since it's a common add-on qualification.
One-to-one session
€55 to €95
Small group (2 to 4), per person
€25 to €45 a session
Two sessions a week on a monthly plan
€400 to €640 a month
HIIT
How much do HIIT sessions cost in Amsterdam?
HIIT is most often run as a class or small group, which is where it's cheapest per head. One-to-one HIIT is priced like a normal personal training session. If you're new to training, a couple of solo sessions on technique first is money well spent, since the pace leaves little room for correcting form.
Group HIIT class, per person
€15 to €25 a session
Small group (2 to 4), per person
€25 to €45 a session
One-to-one session
€55 to €95
Running and endurance
How much does a running coach cost in Amsterdam?
Running coaching mostly happens outdoors, which keeps the one-to-one rate at the lower end of the city's range. A coach preparing you for a specific race counts as sport-specific and charges the higher tier. For endurance work, a monthly online plan with weekly reviews often makes more sense than paying per session.
Outdoor one-to-one session
€45 to €80 an hour
Race-specific performance coach
€85 to €150 a session
Online plan with weekly reviews
€100 to €250 a month
TRX suspension training
What does TRX training cost in Amsterdam?
TRX is a studio or small-group format, priced like any other session in that setting. A private studio in the centre charges the most; a trainer at a regular gym or a small group brings it down. Ask whether the studio has enough anchor points for a group before you book together.
Private studio session, city centre
€90 to €120 an hour
Trainer at a regular gym
€55 to €85 an hour
Small group (2 to 4), per person
€25 to €45 a session
Weight loss training
How much does weight loss coaching cost in Amsterdam?
Weight loss is a months-long job, so look at monthly plans rather than single sessions. Nutrition advice is often a separate module, and a trainer without a nutrition qualification should stick to general lifestyle advice; for a medical condition you want a registered dietitian. Ask what's included before you compare two prices.
Two sessions a week, monthly
€400 to €640 a month
Hybrid (in person plus online follow-up)
€200 to €450 a month
Nutrition advice as a monthly add-on
€20 to €50 a month
Standalone nutrition plan
€75 to €150 once
Strength training
How much does strength training with a coach cost in Amsterdam?
For barbell and rack work you want a gym or studio, not your living room, so budget the gym-based rate rather than the home one. A coach with competition experience counts as a specialist and charges accordingly. Ten sessions is enough to learn the main lifts properly, after which many people move to a written plan and occasional check-ins.
Gym-based trainer, per session
€55 to €85
Competition-level strength coach
€85 to €150 a session
Block of 10 sessions
€450 to €800
Prenatal and postnatal training
How much does prenatal or postnatal training cost in Amsterdam?
Pregnancy and postnatal work is specialist territory, so you pay the top tier, and rightly so. Expect a longer intake before the first proper session. Ask specifically about the trainer's pre and postnatal qualification, and check the package terms for pausing if you need to.
Specialist session, city centre
€110 to €150 an hour
Specialist elsewhere in Amsterdam
€90 to €130 an hour
Extended intake for a specialist programme
up to €150
Rehabilitation and injury recovery
What does injury recovery training cost in Amsterdam?
A trainer isn't a physiotherapist, so for a fresh injury see a fysio first and bring their advice to the trainer. Rehab-trained coaches sit in the specialist tier, and the intake tends to be longer and pricier than a standard one. Check the pause terms on any package, since recovery rarely runs to schedule.
Rehab-trained coach, city centre
€110 to €150 an hour
Specialist elsewhere in Amsterdam
€90 to €130 an hour
Longer intake and screening
€45 to €150
Senior fitness
How much does a personal trainer for seniors cost in Amsterdam?
Nothing we read charges extra for age; you pay the trainer's normal rate, plus the home supplement if they come to you. Training as a couple in a duo session brings the price per person down. Ask about the trainer's experience with older clients and how they handle balance and mobility work.
Standard session
€55 to €95 an hour
At home, supplement on the normal rate
€10 to €30 per session
Duo session, per person
€35 to €55 a session
Group classes in Catalan
How much do Catalan-language group fitness classes cost in Amsterdam?
You'll need to hunt for a class that runs in Catalan in Amsterdam, so confirm the language with the trainer before you buy a block. The price itself is the normal group rate, since nothing we read charges by language. Getting a few friends together for a small group is the most realistic route.
Group class, per person
€15 to €25 a session
Small group (2 to 4), per person
€25 to €45 a session
Duo session, per person
€35 to €55 a session
Group classes in Dutch
How much do Dutch-language group fitness classes cost in Amsterdam?
Dutch is the default language for most classes in Amsterdam, so you pay the normal group rate and nothing more. It's also a decent way to pick up everyday Dutch while you sweat. If you're still learning, tell the trainer so they demo the moves rather than just calling them out.
Group class, per person
€15 to €25 a session
Small group (2 to 4), per person
€25 to €45 a session
Duo session, per person
€35 to €55 a session
Group classes in English
How much do English-language group fitness classes cost in Amsterdam?
The guides price classes by group size, and nothing we read charges extra for running one in English, so budget the normal group rate. Many Amsterdam trainers are international, so ask which language the class runs in before you book. Certification matters more than language; look for NASM, ACE, EREPS or CIOS.
Group class, per person
€15 to €25 a session
Small group (2 to 4), per person
€25 to €45 a session
Duo session, per person
€35 to €55 a session
Group classes in French
How much do French-language group fitness classes cost in Amsterdam?
The price is the normal group rate; the language doesn't change it. The harder part is finding a class that actually runs in French, so confirm the language with the trainer and try a single session before you buy a block.

Small group (2 to 4), per person
€25 to €45 a session
Duo session, per person

How much do German-language group fitness classes cost in Amsterdam?

Small group (2 to 4), per person
€25 to €45 a session
Duo session, per person
€35 to €55 a session
Group classes in Portuguese
How much do Portuguese-language group fitness classes cost in Amsterdam?

€15 to €25 a session
Small group (2 to 4), per person
€25 to €45 a session
Duo session, per person
€35 to €55 a session
Group classes in Spanish
How much do Spanish-language group fitness classes cost in Amsterdam?
Same price as any other group class in Amsterdam; the language is about finding the right trainer, not paying more. A small group of two to four friends who all want Spanish is often the simplest way to make it happen, and it's cheaper per head than one-to-one.
Group class, per person
€15 to €25 a session
Small group (2 to 4), per person
€25 to €45 a session
Duo session, per person
€35 to €55 a session
Frequently Asked Questions
What people want to know before hiring fitness trainers in Amsterdam.
What should I check before hiring fitness trainers in Amsterdam?
Read recent reviews, be clear about exactly what you need, and agree the scope and a price in writing before any work starts. For anything regulated, check the credential yourself rather than taking it on trust.
Are prices in Amsterdam quoted with or without BTW?
Check, because it varies. A price quoted to a consumer should already include BTW, and most trades do show it that way, but plenty of price lists are still written excluding it. The rate is 21% on most work, though labour on a home more than two years old is taxed at 9%, and so are things like sports and fitness classes. Look for the word "inclusief" or "exclusief" next to the figure before you compare two quotes, and ask whether travel costs and parking are in there too.
How do I check a business in Amsterdam is properly registered?
Every legitimate Dutch business has a KvK number from the Chamber of Commerce, and you can look it up free in the public register. For gas, heating and electrical work there are extra schemes worth asking about, mainly SCIOS and InstallQ. A business that will not give you its KvK number is a reason to walk away.
What is the most important thing to know before booking?
Be clear about what you want and get the price and scope agreed up front, so there are no surprises. Reading other people's reviews is the quickest way to find someone who does the job well and turns up when they said they would.
What should I avoid when hiring fitness trainers in Amsterdam?
Avoid paying the full amount up front (a deposit can be fair), anyone who will not give a clear quote, and unusually cheap prices that get padded with extras later.
How do I find fitness trainers I can trust in Amsterdam?
Check the reviews and any credentials before you book. On Locallista the reviews are phone-verified and the ranking is based on real experience, not who paid the most.
