Elvira was my postpartum doula for both of my babies, and I also did postpartum massages with her. I had her for a month both times and it was amazing, which is why I got her for my second child as well. With my first I had mastitis and a lot of complications, and she was really great at helping with that, very flexible in what I needed, and she did a lot of the cooking and thinking about what to cook, which is amazing when you are so tired and do not want to think about anything. She has a lot of knowledge from Chinese medicine and Ayurveda to help you recover, her massages are great, and the price felt fair for what you get.

I have used Jessica for healing massage therapies as well as breath work, and overall the experience is always amazing. She has very healing hands and is an incredibly intuitive therapist. She knows exactly how to get deep with a person in a very gentle, respectful and dignified way. Her price felt on par with what you would expect to pay in Amsterdam, and I will be seeing her again for another massage session.

I first went to Elvira for a pregnancy massage, which was amazing, and then I hired her as my postpartum doula. It was really nice to feel held, because after my first child I felt very lonely and not supported, and she was really there with body work, amazing foot massages, physical touch, and also someone to talk to and confide in with all the mental struggles you can have as a new mom. She was very supportive, listening, and caring, and she also provided food and made snacks. She is also really, really great with kids, she was super sweet with my older daughter.
Frequently Asked Questions
What people want to know before hiring massage therapists in Amsterdam.
What should I check before hiring massage therapists in Amsterdam?
Read recent reviews, be clear about exactly what you need, and agree the scope and a price in writing before any work starts. For anything regulated, check the credential yourself rather than taking it on trust.
Are prices in Amsterdam quoted with or without BTW?
Check, because it varies. A price quoted to a consumer should already include BTW, and most trades do show it that way, but plenty of price lists are still written excluding it. The rate is 21% on most work, though labour on a home more than two years old is taxed at 9%, and so are things like sports and fitness classes. Look for the word "inclusief" or "exclusief" next to the figure before you compare two quotes, and ask whether travel costs and parking are in there too.
How do I check a business in Amsterdam is properly registered?
Every legitimate Dutch business has a KvK number from the Chamber of Commerce, and you can look it up free in the public register. For gas, heating and electrical work there are extra schemes worth asking about, mainly SCIOS and InstallQ. A business that will not give you its KvK number is a reason to walk away.
What is the most important thing to know before booking?
Be clear about what you want and get the price and scope agreed up front, so there are no surprises. Reading other people's reviews is the quickest way to find someone who does the job well and turns up when they said they would.
What should I avoid when hiring massage therapists in Amsterdam?
Avoid paying the full amount up front (a deposit can be fair), anyone who will not give a clear quote, and unusually cheap prices that get padded with extras later.
How do I find massage therapists I can trust in Amsterdam?
Check the reviews and any credentials before you book. On Locallista the reviews are phone-verified and the ranking is based on real experience, not who paid the most.
