I’ve been working with Marta for about six weeks on a property project in Portugal that’s still in the early stages. There’s quite a lot of administration and she handles the local stuff, understanding how institutions work in Portugal like the CTT and electricity companies, and she’s set up a few things we needed. We’ve been extremely impressed with her - she’s actually amazing.

Sofia helped us make the transition from living in the US to moving to Portugal, and she made things a lot easier for us. She got our utilities connected in our names, helped set up our mobile phones, did shopping for mattresses, pillows, and basic household supplies, and had everything ready when we arrived from the airport, even arranging a driver with a van for us and all our luggage. She has also helped us navigate local government offices and get our utente numbers, fiscal numbers, and bank accounts set up. We have worked with her in the last couple of months and are using her again because the experience has been really good.

Wilson responded immediately and confirmed his availability for the occasion as a personal assistant and witness to a notary signing in Lisbon. He communicated proactively, clearly and concisely and showed up on time and sharply dressed. He was very professional in handling my requirements and we also had good conversation for the couple of hours that he helped me. I recommend him and I'd hire him again.

Dos and Don’ts as an expat
Smart choices: dos and don’ts for hiring a family concierge
Do’s
Do Prioritize Personalized Service
Look for family concierge providers that offer tailored solutions to meet your unique family needs. Personalized service ensures that your specific requirements are understood and prioritized, enhancing the overall experience and ensuring smoother coordination for your family activities.
Do Verify Their Range of Services
Choose a family concierge service that offers a broad array of services, from event planning to childcare assistance. A comprehensive service provider is equipped to handle various aspects of family life, ensuring you have support for any situation that arises.
Do Check References and Reviews
Before hiring a family concierge, take the time to read customer reviews and ask for references. Positive testimonials and proven track records can provide you with confidence in the provider’s reliability, quality of service, and ability to cater to families like yours.
Do Inquire About Their Communication Style
Effective communication is vital in family concierge services. Ensure the provider maintains open lines of communication and is responsive to your questions and concerns, creating a trustworthy partnership that fosters transparency and ease of operation.
Dont’s
Don't Hire Without Checking References
Failing to check references can lead to hiring a family concierge who lacks the necessary experience or reliability. Always request and contact past clients to ensure that the provider has consistently delivered quality service and met client expectations.
Don't Ignore Service Agreements
Not reviewing or understanding service agreements can lead to unexpected costs or unclear responsibilities. Ensure that all terms, including hours of service and cancellation policies, are explicitly laid out and clear to avoid misunderstandings later.
Don't Rely Solely on Online Reviews
While online reviews can be helpful, they may not provide a complete picture of a family concierge's reliability or quality. Look for additional feedback from trusted sources or seek personal recommendations to make an informed decision.
Don't Overlook Compatibility with Your Family's Needs
Not considering the specific needs and dynamics of your family when choosing a concierge can result in a mismatch in service. Take time to discuss your unique requirements in detail with potential providers to ensure they can tailor their services accordingly.
