Trafaria, Aug 2026
Ricardo did maintenance on our solar panneled hot water heater in Trafaria and he was outstanding. He was exceptionally polite, very responsive and clearly very knowledgeable. He was actually on time, not the customary within 20 minutes, and the price felt great. I would hire him again, and I plan to, we also need solar pannels installed and he is at the top of our list.

I had them out for air conditioning maintenance and overall it was very good. It took a while for them to come out, and they could not make the agreed date because of a problem with the van or something, but when they did come they identified the problem very quickly and resolved it all on the same day. They were very honest about what needed to be done and what did not need to be done, which I liked, and the price seemed fair. I would definitely hire them again.

They came and identified the problem with my air conditioner, and my landlord took it from there and hired someone else. I paid them for the service call, and they did an excellent job showing up on time and doing what they were supposed to do. They were able to check what was wrong with it, and I had a very good experience overall.

Dos and Don’ts as an expat
Smart choices: dos and don’ts for hiring technicians for solar water heaters
Do’s
Do Check for Relevant Certifications
Ensure the technician holds relevant certifications for solar water heater installation. This demonstrates their commitment to professional standards and guarantees they are up-to-date with the latest technology and best practices in the industry.
Do Request Customer References
Ask for references from previous customers who had solar water heaters installed. Speaking with these individuals can provide insight into the technician's reliability, quality of work, and customer service, helping you to make a more informed decision.
Do Verify Insurance and Warranty Options
Confirm that the technician carries proper liability insurance and offers a warranty on their work. This protects you from potential liabilities in case of accidents during installation and ensures you have recourse if issues arise after the service.
Do Inquire About Experience with Specific Brands
Find out if the technician has experience working with the specific brand and model of your solar water heater. Technicians familiar with your system are more likely to provide a smoother installation process and better ongoing support.
Dont’s
Don't Hire Technicians Lacking Credentials
Choosing technicians who do not have the necessary certifications or licenses can lead to poorly performed installations or repairs. Always verify their qualifications to ensure they are trained and authorized to work on solar water heaters.
Don't Ignore Customer Reviews
Failing to read customer reviews can result in selecting a service provider with a history of unsatisfactory work. Take the time to evaluate past experiences shared by others to avoid potential pitfalls and ensure quality service.
Don't Accept Incomplete Estimates
Accepting vague or incomplete quotes without clear breakdowns of costs may lead to unexpected charges later. Ensure that any estimate includes detailed explanations of labor, materials, and warranties to avoid financial surprises.
Don't Overlook Warranty Policies
Neglecting to ask about warranty options before hiring a technician can leave you vulnerable to high repair costs later. Always inquire about the warranties on both parts and labor to ensure your investment is protected.
