Running a restaurant by the beach can get hectic, but Hugo's DJ gigs have been a game-changer for me. His perfect communication and knack for bringing in customers make him indispensable. Hugo's vibrant spirit, along with his love for party soul and 80's music, keeps the good vibes rolling.

I hired Anna to make two picnics for me - one was a writing workshop picnic in Ginchu with amazing decoration and wonderful flowers, and the second was for my anniversary in Praia da Pica just for the two of us. She came earlier, set everything up, we just arrived and everything was ready, and after we went away she handled the cleanup too. She was always in touch, asked about things I didn’t know are important, very helpful, and I would recommend her to, like, everyone.

From start to finish, everything about our wedding was seamless thanks to Hugo. He organized everything perfectly, from the equipment to the lighting, and the song selection was amazing. Our wedding was a complete success, and there's truly nothing I would change about the experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a wedding planner cost in Lisbon?
In Lisbon, day-of coordination typically ranges from €1,200, €2,500, partial planning from €2,500, €5,000, and full-service from €4,000, €10,000+, depending on guest count, season and complexity. Prices are set by each planner and you pay them directly. Rates are not listed on Locallista, so request detailed proposals and inclusions.
How do I vet and choose a reliable wedding planner in Lisbon?
Review recent portfolios, real weddings and independent reviews, then ask for two client referees you can contact. Request a sample timeline, risk and weather contingency plan, and a transparent contract with deliverables and response times. Ensure they’ve planned weddings for international couples in Portugal and can communicate clearly in English.
Do Lisbon wedding planners speak English and handle multicultural or LGBTQ+ weddings?
Yes. Many Lisbon wedding planners are fluent in English and used to multicultural, interfaith and LGBTQ+ celebrations. Ask about specific experience with your traditions, whether they can source inclusive vendors, and if they provide translation for ceremonies or speeches so guests from different backgrounds feel welcome and included.
What’s the difference between full-service, partial and day-of coordination?
Full-service covers concept, budgeting, venue and supplier sourcing, design, logistics and on-the-day management from start to finish. Partial planning supports selected areas when you’ve booked some elements yourself. Day-of (often month-of) coordination ties everything together, finalises timelines and runs the event, ensuring your plans are executed seamlessly on the day.
Can a Lisbon wedding planner help with legal paperwork for foreign couples?
Planners can guide you through Portuguese requirements and liaise with registrars or celebrants, but you remain responsible for official documentation. Timelines vary by nationality and ceremony type; allow several weeks for translations, apostilles and bookings. Many couples choose a symbolic ceremony in Portugal after completing the legal paperwork at home.
When is the best time to marry in Lisbon and how is the weather managed?
The most popular months are May, June and September, October for warm, comfortable weather and golden light. July, August can be hot and busy, while winter offers value but higher rain risk. A good planner builds robust Plan B options, covered spaces, tents, wind screens and adjusted timelines, to protect comfort, photos and entertainment.
What venues can Lisbon wedding planners arrange?
Lisbon planners regularly work with palaces in Sintra, rustic quintas, vineyards, beachfront settings in Cascais or Costa da Caparica, chic rooftops and contemporary warehouses. They coordinate transport for guests and consider local regulations like sound curfews. Expect curated site visits, layout plans and design concepts tailored to your venue’s character.
How do planners handle suppliers, and can I bring my own?
Most planners maintain trusted supplier networks, caterers, florists, photographers, bands, that suit different styles and budgets, helping secure availability and consistent quality. You can usually bring your own vendors, subject to venue rules and required documentation. Clarify deliverables, arrival times and set-up needs early to avoid surprises and protect the schedule.
What hidden costs should I plan for in Lisbon?
Budget for Portuguese VAT (IVA, often 23%), travel or accommodation for suppliers, overtime for bands and transport, rentals (furniture, lighting, generators), permits, corkage and clean-up fees. International couples may also need translations or document handling. Ask whether quotes are net or inclusive of tax, and confirm cut-off times and extras.
How does remote planning work if I’m not yet in Portugal?
Remote planning typically combines video calls, shared planning tools, WhatsApp updates and digital design boards. Planners can provide virtual venue tours and propose a focused site-visit weekend for tastings, trials and walkthroughs when you’re in town. Agree on response times, time-zone windows and milestone check-ins to keep decisions moving.

Dos and Don’ts as an expat

Smart choices: dos and don’ts for hiring the perfect wedding planner

Do’s
Do Prioritize Experience with Event Coordination
Select a wedding planner who has extensive experience in coordinating events. A planner with a proven track record can manage every aspect seamlessly, ensuring that your special day is well-organized and stress-free.
Do Collaborate on Music Selection
Engage with your wedding planner about music preferences early on in the planning process. Collaborating on the playlist can create a personal touch that resonates with your guests and sets the right atmosphere for your celebration.
Do Inquire about Vendor Connections
Choose a wedding planner with established relationships with reliable vendors. Connections with bartenders, caterers, and equipment providers can streamline services and enhance the quality of your wedding experience.
Do Emphasize Lighting and Ambiance
Discuss the importance of lighting with your wedding planner as it can dramatically influence the mood of your event. A planner who understands how to set up lights creatively can elevate the aesthetics of your venue, making the day even more memorable.
Dont’s
Don't Ignore the Importance of a Planner's Experience
Choosing a wedding planner without sufficient experience can lead to oversight, poor organization, and last-minute chaos. Ensure your planner has a proven track record with successful events and can handle the complexities of wedding planning seamlessly.
Don't Neglect to Discuss Music Preferences Early
Failing to communicate your music preferences early on can result in a playlist that doesn't reflect your taste or connect with your guests. Discuss your musical choices in detail to ensure a personal touch during the celebration.
Don't Skimp on Equipment and Setup Quality
Choosing a planner who doesn't prioritize high-quality equipment and proper setup can jeopardize the overall atmosphere of your wedding. Ensure your planner is committed to providing top-notch sound and lighting to enhance your special day.
Don't Overlook Backup Plans for Potential Issues
Neglecting to discuss contingency plans for unexpected issues can lead to significant problems on your wedding day. Make sure your planner has strategies in place for potential challenges, such as weather changes or technical failures.
