Frederico

Sintra on Apr 2026

I’m having the gas service done at my houses and everything is going well. It’s a good company and I’m happy with them - the price is good and the service is good. Sometimes it’s hard to talk to them and a few times they said they would come today but came the next day, and a couple of times they forgot to do it the way I asked so some things had to be changed. Usually when I call they call back the same day or the next day, so overall it went well.

Fabio

I use them regularly for my construction projects. They are very professional guys, quick to do their jobs, very accessible, and always respectful and clean - they don’t mess the house. They came recommended by a friend, and after a good job I just kept working with them. Price feels not that expensive for the market.

Yassin

Algés on Apr 2026

I hired them for my heater in my new house that wasn’t working. A friend gave me the number, they came the next day already, the guy was on time, polite and fixed it in about half an hour. His English wasn’t perfect so we spoke half in English and half in Portuguese, this could be a bit hard for people who are not comfortable with Portuguese, but it worked. Price felt fair and overall it went very, very well.

Frequently Asked Questions

What expats want to know before hiring gas technicians in Lisbon.

Are there English-speaking gas technicians in Lisbon?
Yes, and more do as the expat community grows. The hard part is knowing who is reliable before you book, so every one we list is reviewed by other expats who have actually used them.
What should I check before hiring gas technicians in Lisbon?
Read recent reviews, be clear about exactly what you need, and agree the scope and an estimate in writing before any work starts. For anything regulated, check they hold the right credentials for the job.
Do I need a certified gas technician in Lisbon?
Yes. Gas work must be done by a certified gas technician, both for safety and to keep your insurance and contracts valid. In Portugal look for a certified técnico de gás. Always ask to see it.
What should I avoid when hiring gas technicians in Lisbon?
Avoid paying the full amount up front (a deposit can be fair), anyone who will not give a clear quote, and unusually cheap prices that get padded with extras later. And never use someone who cannot show the right certification.
How do I explain what I need if my Portuguese is limited?
A photo, a short video or a written list does most of the talking, and the professionals we list are used to international clients. Booking an English-speaking one takes the stress out of it entirely.
How do you say gas technicians in Portuguese?
In Portuguese, gas technicians are usually called tecnicos de gas. That is the word to search for or to ask a neighbour, though many professionals here are used to the English term too.
How do I find gas technicians I can trust in Lisbon?
Check the reviews and any credentials before you book. On Locallista the reviews are phone-verified and the ranking is based on real expat experience, not who paid the most.

Dos and Don’ts as an expat

Smart choices: dos and don’ts for hiring a reliable gas technician

Do’s
Do Check for Proper Licensing and Certification
Ensure that the gas technician you consider hiring holds valid licenses and certifications. This indicates that they have met the necessary legal standards and possess the technical expertise required for safe and effective gas work.
Do Read Customer Reviews for Insight
Before making a final decision, review feedback from previous customers. Look for comments on reliability, professionalism, and quality of work to gauge how well the technician meets customer expectations and handles challenges.
Do Inquire About Their Experience with Specific Gas Systems
Ask potential technicians about their experience with different types of gas systems and appliances. Finding someone who specializes in your specific type of system can lead to better service and a quicker resolution of any issues.
Do Ask for a Detailed Estimate Before Work Begins
Request a detailed, written estimate for any proposed work. This should outline the costs, materials, and time frame, ensuring you understand what to expect and helping you compare services among different technicians.
Dont’s
Don't Hire a Technician Without Proper Credentials
Ensure that any gas technician you consider is fully qualified and licensed to perform the work. Hiring unlicensed individuals increases safety risks and may lead to non-compliance with regulations, potentially resulting in severe consequences for your home and health.
Don't Ignore Customer Feedback on Timeliness
Pay attention to reviews regarding punctuality. A technician who frequently arrives late or misses appointments may disrupt your schedule and indicate poor professional practices, which can lead to further issues down the line in service quality and reliability.
Don't Overlook Warranty and Service Guarantee Limitations
Always check for warranties or service guarantees before hiring. Technicians lacking clear guarantees may provide subpar work, and without proper coverage, you may face additional costs for any necessary repairs or corrections in the future.
Don't Be Misled by Low Initial Quotes
Beware of unusually low quotes that may not include all costs. These can lead to unexpected charges during service. Always request a detailed breakdown of the estimate and ensure that you understand what is included to avoid surprises once the work begins.
