She did a complete homestyling for me: lounge room, kitchen, and a couple of bedrooms. She's lovely, very good; it wasn't exactly what I was looking for or expecting because her style is different to mine, and I didn't love the result, but she added value and made it better. Her communication was good and she was very professional, answered all the calls, and accepted when I said I didn't like something. The price felt reasonable.

We moved into our house and six months later the walls were still bare, so I brought in Eva to do interior styling room by room because of our cash flow. She really worked with me to figure out my style - lots of back and forth with pics and she was super responsive - and my house looks great now. She even told me straight up when she hated a hanging light I liked, and I kept it, but I appreciated the honest opinion. She passed on her discounts to us so the price felt fair and kind of like she paid for herself, and I would definitely use her again.

Yana was introduced to me by a colleague. I needed someone to design a staircase for a small space. Her service a 100 percent, I give her ten stars. From the first moment we met, she was clearly focused and understood what I wanted. She is super flexible, I had many options and she knew what to do. The price was outstanding. She got the timings all the time. The deliverables were on time. She even recommended someone to construct the staircase. Even though we haven't met in person, I found her nice she knows what she was talking about. I have recommended her to my friends who need help in Northern Spain.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does a home stylist do in Lisbon, and how is it different from interior design?
A home stylist in Lisbon focuses on aesthetics, space planning and furniture/decor selection rather than structural changes. They refine layouts, build colour palettes, and source pieces to suit your lifestyle and budget. Compared with interior designers, stylists deliver faster, lighter-touch transformations ideal for rented flats and quick refreshes.
How much does home styling cost in Lisbon?
Costs vary by brief and provider. As a guide, an initial consultation may run €75, €200, day rates €250, €600, and single-room packages €500, €1,800, excluding furnishings. Prices are set by individual stylists and paid directly to them, so request an itemised quote and clear deliverables.
How long does a home styling project in Lisbon take?
Timelines depend on scope and stock availability. A room refresh with in-stock items can take 1, 3 weeks; a two-bedroom apartment typically runs 3, 8 weeks, allowing for deliveries and assembly. Custom pieces or made-to-measure curtains may extend schedules, so confirm lead times upfront.
Can home styling work for rented apartments in Lisbon?
Yes. Stylists specialise in rental-friendly solutions such as removable wall treatments, free-standing storage, adhesive hooks, plug-in lighting and furniture layout tweaks. They can propose landlord-approved updates and reversible decor so you personalise your space without risking your deposit or breaching Portuguese tenancy agreements.
Do home stylists in Lisbon speak English?
Many Lisbon-based stylists serving expats are English-speaking, with several also fluent in other languages. Clear communication is key: ask how they present concepts (mood boards, 3D visuals), how they manage WhatsApp or video calls, and whether site visits and documentation can be provided in English.
What should I prepare for my first home styling consultation?
Bring accurate measurements or a floor plan, photos or a quick video tour, and a realistic budget range. Share inspiration images and any must-keep pieces, plus details about your lifestyle, storage needs and move-in dates. This helps the stylist build a tailored concept and avoid costly revisions.
Will a home stylist handle furniture sourcing, delivery and assembly in Lisbon?
Most stylists offer furniture and decor sourcing from local boutiques and international brands, coordinate delivery schedules, and arrange assembly or handymen. Payments for goods and services are made directly with the retailers and the stylist. Clarify who manages returns, warranties and snagging before you approve the plan.
How do I vet the quality of a home stylist in Lisbon?
Assess a detailed portfolio with before-and-after shots and projects similar to your home. Check independent reviews, request references, and ask for an itemised proposal showing scope, deliverables, milestones and payment schedule. Agree how decisions are documented and how variations are handled to avoid surprises.
Can I arrange virtual or online home styling before I move to Lisbon?
Yes. Many stylists provide e-design packages with video consultations, digital mood boards, floor plans, and shoppable lists, then coordinate deliveries to your new address. This approach is popular with expats on tight timelines and helps you arrive to a ready-to-live, cohesive apartment.
Can home styling in Lisbon be sustainable and budget-friendly?
Absolutely. Stylists can prioritise natural materials, vintage or upcycled finds, low-VOC paints and trusted local makers, while mixing high-street pieces with investment items. They will often phase projects to spread costs and recommend durable, rental-safe choices that reduce waste over time.

Dos and Don’ts as an expat
Smart choices: dos and don’ts when hiring a home styling expert
Do’s
Do Research Their Portfolio
Review the service provider's portfolio to see past projects that align with your style and preferences. A well-curated portfolio can showcase the provider's range and quality of work, helping you gauge if they are the right fit for your home styling needs.
Do Seek Client Testimonials
Look for customer testimonials that highlight positive experiences and outcomes. Genuine feedback can give you valuable insights into the service provider's reliability, creativity, and ability to meet client expectations, helping you to make an informed decision.
Do Consider Their Communication Skills
Evaluate how well the provider communicates during initial consultations. Clear and open communication is crucial for understanding your vision and ensuring that your ideas are accurately translated into the final design. Seek out a provider who listens and responds effectively.
Do Ask About Their Design Process
Inquire about the design process the provider follows, including steps such as consultations, revisions, and timelines. A structured and transparent process can ensure a smooth collaboration and increase the likelihood of achieving your desired outcome efficiently.
Dont’s
Don't Rely on Ambiguous Portfolios
Service providers with vague or incomplete portfolios may lack the necessary skills or experience for your project. Always ask for specific examples of past work and ensure those align with your style and expectations to avoid disappointment.
Don't Neglect Checking References
Failing to verify references can lead to hiring a provider who does not deliver consistent quality. Always reach out to previous clients to understand their experiences and ensure the service provider meets your expectations.
Don't Accept Quotes Without Detailed Breakdowns
Vague quotes can hide unexpected costs and lead to budget overruns. Always request a detailed breakdown of services included in the quote to understand exactly what you are paying for, helping prevent financial surprises later.
Don't Ignore Reviews from Multiple Sources
Relying on reviews from a single platform can provide a skewed perspective. Check multiple sources to get a broader view of a provider's reputation, which can help you avoid service providers with potential red flags.
