Ricardo

Lisbon on Jun 2026

I have known Lara for many years, and my last experience with her was in Lisbon at my hotel. She did the mock up room, two mock rooms, and the restaurant terrace, and she is super professional, super dedicated, and very close to the client. What I value most is that she has training in architecture and interior design, so her work is very complete and covers both areas. I really recommend her.

Anastasia

Paris on Dec 2025

Anastasia consulted me on renovation works in my mother's apartment, mainly the bathroom renovation, and guided us with measurements, materials, and all kinds of things. She was working with us online - she was in Portugal, I was in Russia, and the place is in an old building - and she was very efficient and professional, quickly picking the situation, analyzing the measurements and condition of the walls, and advising on locally available ceramic, paint, and prep maneuvers. I was very, very happy with the result, price felt fair, and I already plan to work with her again after a major flood damaged the 70 meter apartment and she has already asked me for the cadastre plans. I recommend her to friends, and the fact that she is fluent in three or four languages is super helpful.

Alexandra

Lisbon on Feb 2026

She did a complete homestyling for me: lounge room, kitchen, and a couple of bedrooms. She's lovely, very good; it wasn't exactly what I was looking for or expecting because her style is different to mine, and I didn't love the result, but she added value and made it better. Her communication was good and she was very professional, answered all the calls, and accepted when I said I didn't like something. The price felt reasonable.

Dos and Don’ts as an expat

Smart choices: dos and don’ts when hiring a home styling expert

Do’s
Do Research Their Portfolio
Review the service provider's portfolio to see past projects that align with your style and preferences. A well-curated portfolio can showcase the provider's range and quality of work, helping you gauge if they are the right fit for your home styling needs.
Do Seek Client Testimonials
Look for customer testimonials that highlight positive experiences and outcomes. Genuine feedback can give you valuable insights into the service provider's reliability, creativity, and ability to meet client expectations, helping you to make an informed decision.
Do Consider Their Communication Skills
Evaluate how well the provider communicates during initial consultations. Clear and open communication is crucial for understanding your vision and ensuring that your ideas are accurately translated into the final design. Seek out a provider who listens and responds effectively.
Do Ask About Their Design Process
Inquire about the design process the provider follows, including steps such as consultations, revisions, and timelines. A structured and transparent process can ensure a smooth collaboration and increase the likelihood of achieving your desired outcome efficiently.
Dont’s
Don't Rely on Ambiguous Portfolios
Service providers with vague or incomplete portfolios may lack the necessary skills or experience for your project. Always ask for specific examples of past work and ensure those align with your style and expectations to avoid disappointment.
Don't Neglect Checking References
Failing to verify references can lead to hiring a provider who does not deliver consistent quality. Always reach out to previous clients to understand their experiences and ensure the service provider meets your expectations.
Don't Accept Quotes Without Detailed Breakdowns
Vague quotes can hide unexpected costs and lead to budget overruns. Always request a detailed breakdown of services included in the quote to understand exactly what you are paying for, helping prevent financial surprises later.
Don't Ignore Reviews from Multiple Sources
Relying on reviews from a single platform can provide a skewed perspective. Check multiple sources to get a broader view of a provider's reputation, which can help you avoid service providers with potential red flags.
