Friendly Cleaning Portugal came and treated our house for fleas after the dog had a recurring flea problem. They were friendly, professional, responsive and flexible with scheduling a time. It was a bit of a messy business but seemed thorough and I felt comfortable leaving the gentleman in my home while we absented ourselves. I would recommend their service to anyone needing the same. Overall they were very good and I would recommend them.

I used BugZero for a preventative anti-pest treatment before moving into our new apartment in Lisbon. Since it's an old building, we wanted to reduce the chance of insects and other pests. Communication was excellent via WhatsApp, and the job was handled professionally. The price was reasonable for the service provided.

I had a problem with mold, and the team handled it quite quickly and efficiently. They not only removed the mold but also explained how to prevent its recurrence in the future. The cleaners were very pleasant and explained everything clearly. The prices seemed transparent, and I was satisfied with their work.

Frequently Asked Questions

What expats want to know before hiring exterminators in Lisbon.

Are there English-speaking exterminators in Lisbon?
Yes, and more do as the expat community grows. The hard part is knowing who is reliable before you book, so every one we list is reviewed by other expats who have actually used them.
What should I check before hiring exterminators in Lisbon?
Read recent reviews, be clear about exactly what you need, and agree the scope and an estimate in writing before any work starts. For anything regulated, check they hold the right credentials for the job.
What is the most important thing to know before booking?
Be clear about what you want and get the price and scope agreed up front, so there are no surprises. Reading other expats' reviews is the quickest way to find someone who does the job well and communicates clearly.
What should I avoid when hiring exterminators in Lisbon?
Avoid paying the full amount up front (a deposit can be fair), anyone who will not give a clear quote, and unusually cheap prices that get padded with extras later.
How do I explain what I need if my Portuguese is limited?
A photo, a short video or a written list does most of the talking, and the professionals we list are used to international clients. Booking an English-speaking one takes the stress out of it entirely.
How do you say exterminators in Portuguese?
In Portuguese, exterminators are usually called controlo de pragas. That is the word to search for or to ask a neighbour, though many professionals here are used to the English term too.
How do I find exterminators I can trust in Lisbon?
Check the reviews and any credentials before you book. On Locallista the reviews are phone-verified and the ranking is based on real expat experience, not who paid the most.

Selecting an exterminator is crucial for maintaining a pest-free environment in your home or business. With the right provider, you can enjoy peace of mind and effective pest management tailored to your needs. By adhering to these dos and don’ts, you’ll navigate the selection process with confidence, ensuring you choose a dependable partner who prioritizes your satisfaction and delivers exceptional results. Remember, the key to success lies not only in finding the right expertise but also in fostering clear communication and following through on service commitments.

Dos and Don’ts as an expat

Key dos and don’ts for hiring the perfect exterminator

Do’s
Do Choose a Service Provider with a Proven Track Record
Select an exterminator known for their effectiveness and professionalism. Look for positive reviews that highlight successful pest control outcomes and satisfied customers, ensuring that the service has consistently delivered results.
Do Inquire About Their Follow-Up Services
When hiring an exterminator, ask about their policy for follow-up visits after the initial treatment. A provider that offers subsequent checks to ensure the problem is entirely resolved demonstrates commitment to customer satisfaction and effective pest management.
Do Prioritize Communication and Responsiveness
Opt for exterminators who are known for their clear communication and responsiveness. This includes explaining procedures upfront, addressing concerns promptly, and adapting their schedules to minimize disruption, which enhances the overall customer experience.
Do Assess Price Fairness Relative to Quality
Evaluate the price of extermination services in the context of the quality provided. Look for companies that demonstrate reasonable pricing for their effective treatments and attentive customer service, ensuring you receive good value for your investment.
Dont’s
Don't Ignore Follow-Up Services
Choosing an exterminator who does not provide follow-up services can lead to unresolved pest issues. Effective extermination often requires ongoing checks to ensure that all pests are eliminated and do not return. Be sure to confirm that any service includes post-treatment follow-ups.
Don't Overlook Communication Skills
Selecting an exterminator who fails to communicate clearly about the treatment process and potential issues can lead to misunderstandings. Ensure the provider is open to discussing the situation, explaining preventive tips, and allowing you to address concerns before, during, and after service.
Don't Go for the Cheapest Option Without Research
Opting for the lowest-priced exterminator might result in poor service and ineffective treatments. Always evaluate the quality of services promised and the provider's reputation, as savings could lead to recurring pest problems and additional costs in the long run.
Don't Hire Without Assessing Service Reliability
Engaging an exterminator without considering their reliability could mean delayed treatments and ongoing pest problems. Look for customer reviews that highlight punctuality, consistency, and follow-through on commitments to ensure you're making a dependable choice.
