I booked Ricardo to clean my sofa. He arrived about an hour and 15 minutes late, said it was traffic, and he did message and apologize, but I still had to ask when he would actually get here, which stressed me because I had an online Portuguese lesson. Once he started, he seemed professional, brought all the gear, steamed the couch and dried it, worked pretty fast, left everything clean, and removed all the stains; I felt safe and comfortable even leaving him working in the room. Price felt slightly high but overall I liked the job and I’m already thinking to have him back for the mattress.

I had 2 rugs that needed a deep cleaning and stain removal, and Jonas replied promptly and came on time, even a bit earlier. He took the rugs away and brought them back when he said he would, and the job was done very well. One of the rugs could not be cleaned completely, but it was very dirty so that was no surprise, and the price felt very reasonable.

I booked Karina for window cleaning and post construction cleaning in a very large apartment with sensitive surfaces, and I even offered a viewing because it was clear this was a big job. They were accommodating with the date and came on a Sunday, but they arrived with too few people, the windows were finished and everything else remained unfinished, there was construction dust everywhere, and one window detail was broken. I paid because they promised to come again that same week to finish the work, but later they declined and said construction had happened in the mean time, which I believe was simply not true. It felt like an excuse not to come anymore, and overall, from my perspective, it was not professional. In my experience, they did not do anything to address or fix the broken window detail.

What is the most important thing to know before booking?

What should I avoid when hiring sofa cleaning companies in Lisbon?
Avoid paying the full amount up front (a deposit can be fair), anyone who will not give a clear quote, and unusually cheap prices that get padded with extras later.
How do I explain what I need if my Portuguese is limited?
A photo, a short video or a written list does most of the talking, and the professionals we list are used to international clients. Booking an English-speaking one takes the stress out of it entirely.

Dos and Don’ts as an expat

Essential dos and don’ts for selecting the perfect sofa cleaning company

Do’s
Do Choose Service Providers with Proven Results
Select a sofa cleaning company that has received excellent feedback for consistently achieving high-quality cleaning results. Look for reviews highlighting successful stain removal and overall satisfaction to ensure you are choosing a reliable service.
Do Prioritize Good Communication
Make sure to hire a sofa cleaning service that is known for clear and prompt communication. Positive reviews often mention smooth interactions and timely updates, which can enhance your overall experience and minimize confusion.
Do Look for Professionalism and Reliability
Opt for a cleaning company that demonstrates professionalism, punctuality, and reliability. Positive feedback often reflects on the cleaners' respect for your home and their commitment to arriving on time, ensuring a hassle-free experience.
Do Consider Eco-Friendly and Pet-Friendly Options
When selecting a sofa cleaning company, consider those that use eco-friendly and pet-safe cleaning products. Reviews supporting this not only praise effectiveness but also highlight safety for your family and pets, making it a responsible choice.
Dont’s
Don't Ignore Customer Feedback
Before hiring a sofa cleaning company, take the time to read customer reviews and feedback. Ignoring this information could lead you to select a service provider that lacks professionalism, effectiveness, or reliability, resulting in unsatisfactory cleaning results.
Don't Settle for Poor Communication
Ensure that the service provider communicates effectively before and during the service. Poor communication can lead to misunderstandings about scheduling, costs, or specific cleaning needs, ultimately affecting the quality of service received.
Don't Overlook Equipment and Techniques Used
Inquire about the cleaning equipment and techniques employed by the company. Providers using outdated or improper methods may not deliver satisfactory results or could even damage your furniture, resulting in wasted time and money.
Don't Assume Quick Drying Times Are Guaranteed
Be cautious if a service advertises quick drying times. While some companies deliver on this promise, others may not. Ensure you clarify expected drying times to avoid inconvenience and potential damage to your furniture.
