I’m a filmmaker and have worked with Juliette on a few projects for costume design, styling and a bit of production design. On one film she designed dresses for a dream sequence - she got the fabric, sewed them and they were really well crafted, and she was there from pre-production and saw the whole art direction through for almost a year. She’s super talented, very, very diligent, very communicative and responsive, super dynamic and high spirits, very minutious and attentive to detail, and she got along with the whole team which is a big plus. Pricing felt fair and she was flexible on the rate, and overall she’s such a joy to work with.

I’m very happy with her; she did a great job. She designed the logo for my new company and did all the stationery and so forth, did it fast and did it very well, and deliveries were on time. Communication in English was smooth and easy. I would recommend her, and the price felt reasonable.
Frequently Asked Questions
How can expats choose a reliable graphic designer in Lisbon?
Start by reviewing portfolios for similar work (logos, brand identity, packaging) and checking verified client reviews. Prioritise English-speaking designers who communicate clearly and propose a structured process with milestones, timelines, and revision rounds. Ask for references and a written scope and contract; a small paid test project can confirm fit and quality.
Do graphic designers in Lisbon work in English?
Yes, Lisbon has many English-speaking graphic designers used to working with expats and international brands. Confirm fluency during your first call, and request proposals, contracts, and invoices in English. If you need other languages (Portuguese, Spanish, French, German), ask early so they can assign the right specialist.
How much does graphic design cost in Lisbon?
Prices vary by designer and project scope, and are set directly by the provider. As a guide, logo design in Lisbon can range from €300, €1,500+, full brand identity €1,000, €5,000+, and hourly rates €25, €80+. Quotes and payments are arranged directly with the designer; prices aren’t publicly standardised.
How long do logo and brand identity projects take in Lisbon?
Timelines depend on scope. A logo project often takes 1, 3 weeks; a full brand identity may run 3, 6 weeks, longer with strategy, naming, or packaging. Rush turnarounds are possible at a surcharge. Clear briefs, fast feedback, and consolidated reviews keep Lisbon designers on schedule.
What should I include in a design brief for Lisbon-based designers?
Include your business goals, audience, competitors, tone, examples you like, brand assets, copy, deliverables, formats, budget, and deadlines. Add usage contexts (print, web, packaging, social) and any Portuguese localisation needs. A complete brief reduces revisions and helps Lisbon designers quote accurately and start quickly.
Who owns the design files and rights in Portugal?
By default, designers own the copyright until it’s assigned or licensed in writing. Ensure your contract states the transfer of rights, usage scope, and delivery of editable source files (e.g., AI, PSD, INDD, fonts). Note that fonts and stock images usually require separate licences for your business.
Can I book an urgent graphic design job in Lisbon?
Many Lisbon designers accept urgent or same‑week projects, often with a rush fee. Prepare a concise brief, brand assets, and decision‑makers for rapid feedback. Agree upfront on deliverables, timeline, and revision limits, and communicate via WhatsApp or video to keep iterations fast.
Do Lisbon graphic designers work remotely, or do I need to meet in person?
Most Lisbon designers work remotely and collaborate via email, video calls, and shared files, which suits expats. In‑person meetings or workshops are possible if you’re in the city. Clarify time zones, meeting cadence, and file handover to ensure smooth communication and approvals.
How many revisions are standard with Lisbon graphic design projects?
Two to three revision rounds are common for logos, branding, and marketing assets in Lisbon. Additional rounds or major scope changes are usually billed. Set clear feedback windows and consolidate comments internally to avoid delays and keep costs predictable.
Should I hire a freelance graphic designer or a design studio in Lisbon?
Freelancers can be cost‑effective, flexible, and ideal for focused tasks like logo design or social assets. Studios suit complex briefs needing strategy, brand systems, motion, or packaging rollout. Consider budget, deadlines, and the breadth of deliverables; some expats use a freelancer first, then scale to a studio.

Dos and Don’ts as an expat
Smart choices: dos and don’ts when hiring a graphic designer
Do’s
Do Prioritize Clear Communication
Select a graphic designer who excels in clear and consistent communication. This ensures that your vision is understood and that you remain informed throughout the design process, resulting in a final product that meets your expectations.
Do Look for Versatile Creativity
Choose a graphic designer known for their exceptional creativity and technical skills. Look for evidence of their ability to handle various styles and mediums, as this flexibility can greatly enhance the quality of your project.
Do Evaluate Turnaround Times
Assess potential graphic designers based on their ability to deliver projects within your required timelines. A track record of quick turnaround without compromising quality indicates a professional who's capable of meeting tight deadlines.
Do Seek Client Testimonials
Look for graphic designers with positive reviews highlighting their professionalism and work ethic. Testimonials from previous clients can provide valuable insights into their reliability and the quality of their deliverables.
Dont’s
Don't Ignore Communication Skills
Effective communication is crucial when collaborating with graphic designers. A lack of responsiveness or unclear communication can lead to misunderstandings and unmet expectations. Ensure potential hires demonstrate strong communication abilities during initial interactions.
Don't Settle for Unclear Project Boundaries
Before hiring a graphic designer, clearly define project scope and boundaries. Avoid those who may not specify their services, as it can lead to unfulfilled expectations and unnecessary complications later on in the project.
Don't Overlook the Importance of Creativity and Adaptability
Choose graphic designers who show a strong sense of creativity and can adapt to your specific needs. Designers who are rigid in their approach may not bring your vision to life or offer innovative solutions to challenges.
Don't Ignore Past Client Experiences
Research previous client reviews carefully before making a decision. Avoid designers with consistent negative feedback regarding their reliability, work quality, or ability to meet deadlines, as this can save you from future disappointments.
Don't Underestimate the Value of Quality Over Price
While it's tempting to choose the cheapest graphic design service, prioritize quality and expertise instead. Cutting corners on price can compromise the final outcome of your project, leading to dissatisfaction down the line.
