I’ve been going to Koen since 2017 because I sit 8 hours a day and had postural issues, not pain. He helped a lot with setting up my workstation - chair height, monitor levels - and coached me on habits like standing up, drinking water, moving around, and stretching, plus he explains the why and what to do and points me to a specialist if needed. Scheduling has been reliable and when something came up once or twice, they told me right away and found me the closest slot, and I’ve also gotten write-ups for doctors quickly. The clinic is new and top-notch with multiple rooms, proper equipment, and AC, value for money feels good, and I’ve referred friends and still keep going back.

Ana has been our general medicine doctor for almost five years. We did six-month checkups, she helped me prepare for my pregnancy, and when we got sick she always diagnosed and treated us better than the public healthcare. In 2022 I had COVID and a long cough - public visits didn’t help, but Ana prescribed medicine and inhalers that finally made me feel better, and she explains everything in calm, super good English. Once I had to wait because of hospital computer issues but usually not long, and I even paid once for an earlier online consult and the price felt fair.

Everything was great and very fast from the first appointment to the first visit. I had a removal yesterday and I’m still in the healing process with a little bit of pain, but they explained the procedure, gave me the medicines and an after-surgery checklist, and everything felt well done. I went on a Sunday and there were a lot of people and emergencies, so I waited around 35-40 minutes, and I also needed a 3D scan because my nerves were close to the teeth, with a follow up likely. The clinic is really clean and organized, the staff are really good, and the price felt normal for this kind of service.

Dos and Don’ts as an expat

Navigating Family Medicine: Essential Dos and Don'ts for Your Healthcare Journey

Do’s
Do Seek Personalized Care
Look for family medicine providers who prioritize personalized care. Providers like those at TejoMed are known to thoroughly examine your medical history and tailor treatments to suit your specific health needs, ensuring a more effective approach to your overall wellness.
Do Consider Holistic Approaches
Opt for family doctors who employ holistic methods in their practice. A provider who focuses on functional medicine will take their time during consultations, understanding your health from all angles rather than just addressing immediate symptoms or prescribing medications.
Do Check Reviewers' Experiences with Appointment Scheduling
Choose family medicine clinics that allow easy appointment scheduling. Positive reviews highlight clinics where patients can schedule appointments with short notice and experience no delays during their visits, which enhances the overall service efficiency.
Do Value the Importance of Cleanliness
Select a family medicine provider that emphasizes cleanliness and a welcoming environment. A well-maintained clinic helps ensure that you feel comfortable and confident in the quality of care you are receiving.
Dont’s
Don't Settle for Quick Consultations
Avoid providers who rush through appointments without taking the time to understand your medical history and concerns. Quality care requires thorough discussions, so ensure the provider dedicates adequate time for each consultation.
Don't Neglect to Research Appointment Booking Flexibility
Ensure that the service provider offers convenient appointment scheduling options. Avoid those that require lengthy notice or have limited availability, as this can impede timely access to necessary medical care.
Don't Ignore the Quality of Communication
Be cautious of providers who do not maintain clear and timely communication post-appointment. Look for those who promptly address questions and follow up after consultations, as this reflects their commitment to ongoing care.
Don't Overlook Cleanliness and Facilities
Choose a clinic that maintains high cleanliness standards and is well-equipped. Facilities that are not clean or lack the necessary equipment can undermine your confidence in the quality of care you will receive.
