Klaus

Barcelona on Dec 2025

I started with his father more than 20 years ago, and now Karl takes care of my tourist apartments in Barcelona. He renovated an apartment, did all the electrical work, water, new pipes, and installed air conditioning in several apartments. He is available as soon as I call him - he even came on a Friday to check water dripping and no lights, and once arrived in half an hour and saved me from a very big water damage. Everything always fits perfectly, he is super fast, punctual and professional, and the price feels fair!

My experience with Karl was very good and professional. They transferred the business to me and then completely installed the premises, and they have also come back for small jobs. Communication was clear, punctual, and very professional, which is not the norm. I thought the price was very good for the quality they provide; there may be cheaper options, but I am happy.

Constant

Barcelona on Feb 2026

I had a leaking toilet and honestly thought they would never come for such a small job. I sent a request on a Sunday, got an auto reply on WhatsApp, then Monday morning they asked what was happening; they forgot me for one day, apologized, and 30 minutes later a very nice technician showed up, took the piece, and came back the next day with a new one. It was an embedded toilet in the wall, so they just changed everything - the interior floating system - and now it doesn’t leak anymore, done in a few days. Communication was good and they even warned me half an hour in advance, and the price felt very fair and kind of cheap for the work.

Dos and Don’ts as an expat

Smart choices: dos and don’ts for hiring a reliable gas technician

Do’s
Do Check for Proper Licensing and Certification
Ensure that the gas technician you consider hiring holds valid licenses and certifications. This indicates that they have met the necessary legal standards and possess the technical expertise required for safe and effective gas work.
Do Read Customer Reviews for Insight
Before making a final decision, review feedback from previous customers. Look for comments on reliability, professionalism, and quality of work to gauge how well the technician meets customer expectations and handles challenges.
Do Inquire About Their Experience with Specific Gas Systems
Ask potential technicians about their experience with different types of gas systems and appliances. Finding someone who specializes in your specific type of system can lead to better service and a quicker resolution of any issues.
Do Ask for a Detailed Estimate Before Work Begins
Request a detailed, written estimate for any proposed work. This should outline the costs, materials, and time frame, ensuring you understand what to expect and helping you compare services among different technicians.
Dont’s
Don't Hire a Technician Without Proper Credentials
Ensure that any gas technician you consider is fully qualified and licensed to perform the work. Hiring unlicensed individuals increases safety risks and may lead to non-compliance with regulations, potentially resulting in severe consequences for your home and health.
Don't Ignore Customer Feedback on Timeliness
Pay attention to reviews regarding punctuality. A technician who frequently arrives late or misses appointments may disrupt your schedule and indicate poor professional practices, which can lead to further issues down the line in service quality and reliability.
Don't Overlook Warranty and Service Guarantee Limitations
Always check for warranties or service guarantees before hiring. Technicians lacking clear guarantees may provide subpar work, and without proper coverage, you may face additional costs for any necessary repairs or corrections in the future.
Don't Be Misled by Low Initial Quotes
Beware of unusually low quotes that may not include all costs. These can lead to unexpected charges during service. Always request a detailed breakdown of the estimate and ensure that you understand what is included to avoid surprises once the work begins.
