Kresta

I have used her just personally for having her create cakes and desserts for me. She has been extremely professional, always delivered everything on time if not early, and she’s willing to bring it to my house which makes my life a lot easier - she’ll always drop it off. Her food is excellent, and she always inquires about intolerances or anything she should be aware of and can accommodate that. I saw her catering menu with a large variety of options, and she was willing to try and find other things including more savory items; a bit expensive but it’s a very high-quality product.

I hired her after trying her vegan cookies at another birthday and being so happy I could eat something since I avoid milk and eggs while breastfeeding. For my daughter’s party we ordered cookies like the ones I tried and a cake - a burnt cake with like marbre, with vanilla and chocolate - and it was delicious, very moist, and I got a lot of compliments from other parents. Communication on WhatsApp was easy, timing was flexible, and she was even ready before I contacted her. Pricing felt fair, a bit above usual cookies but well priced for vegan, and I gave feedback about some bundles being pricier than the non-pack and she took it into consideration.

Artur Tanausú

Barcelona on Jul 2025

I have been several times to Laura’s cake shop and bought different things - a cake for a birthday, some cupcakes, a cinnamon roll, and at Christmas a turron bar with special flavors like Ratafia. For my cousin’s birthday I ordered a cake shaped like a Lord of the Rings book, and Laura was advising me about the inside - I asked for cheesecake and she said no cheesecake, she recommended something more like a biscuit, and I chose what she suggested. The cake was very good, ready on time, and she was respectful and paid attention to the details. Price felt fair and according to the quality, and after that the girlfriend of my cousin called her for another cake for another birthday.

Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should I order a custom cake in Barcelona?
For simple celebration cakes in Barcelona, book at least 5, 7 days ahead. For intricate designs, multi‑tier wedding cakes or large dessert tables, allow 2, 6 weeks, especially in spring and summer. Some bakers can take rush orders for an extra fee, subject to availability.
What prices can I expect for cakes and pastries in Barcelona?
Prices vary by design, size and finish. As a rough guide in Barcelona: cupcakes €2.50, €4 each, custom buttercream cakes €4, €7 per serving, and wedding cakes €5, €10 per serving, plus delivery. Prices are set by each baker and paid directly to them; they are not listed on Locallista.
Do bakers in Barcelona offer gluten‑free, vegan, lactose‑free or halal options?
Yes. Many Barcelona bakers offer gluten‑free, vegan, lactose‑free, nut‑free and halal options, and can adapt classic Catalan pastries too. Always confirm ingredients, cross‑contamination controls and separate preparation areas, and ask for labelled boxes if you’ll be serving guests with allergies or religious dietary requirements.
Do bakers deliver across Barcelona, and is same‑day possible?
Most bakers deliver across Barcelona and nearby areas, with fees based on distance, time and the need for on‑site set‑up. Same‑day delivery is sometimes possible for simple items, but custom cakes usually require notice. Confirm parking and access details to avoid delays, especially in the Gothic Quarter and pedestrian zones.
Can I find English‑speaking bakers and patissiers in Barcelona?
Barcelona hosts many English‑speaking bakers and patissiers who regularly serve expats and international weddings. Many also speak additional languages such as French, German or Italian. You can usually discuss designs and logistics via WhatsApp or phone, share inspiration photos, and receive written confirmations in your preferred language.
How do tastings and design consultations work for wedding cakes?
Wedding cake tastings in Barcelona are typically by appointment, with a small fee that may be credited against your order. Expect to sample popular flavours and discuss design, servings, delivery and stand hire. Bring inspiration images, colour swatches and venue details to get an accurate quote and timeline.
What size cake do I need for 20, 50 or 100 guests?
For finger portions, plan roughly one serving of 2.5cm x 5cm per guest; dessert portions are larger. As a guide: 20, 25 guests = a tall 8‑inch cake; 50 guests = a two‑tier 6in + 9in; 100 guests = three‑tier 6in + 9in + 12in. Your baker will refine servings based on height and style.
How can I assess the quality and reliability of a baker or patissier?
Check recent reviews, a robust photo portfolio, and consistent finishes such as sharp edges, smooth buttercream and clean sugar work. Ask about ingredient sourcing, delivery protocols, and how they handle heat in summer. A paid sample box or small trial cake is a reliable way to judge flavour and texture.
Which seasonal Catalan pastries should I consider for my event?
Barcelona patisseries shine with seasonal specialities: Mona de Pascua at Easter, Coca de Sant Joan in June, panellets for All Saints, and Tortell de Reis in January. Many offer modern twists and custom decorations for events. Order early around holidays, as popular fillings and figurines sell out quickly.
What information should I provide to get an accurate quote?
When requesting a quote, share the event date, venue, servings, dietary needs, flavour choices, style references, colour palette and budget range. Include delivery address, set‑up time and any stand hire. Messaging via WhatsApp with photos and a brief helps bakers respond faster with accurate availability and pricing.

Dos and Don’ts as an expat

Smart choices: dos and don’ts for hiring the perfect bakers and patissiers

Do’s
Do Prioritize Communication Skills
Choose a baker who demonstrates excellent communication skills. Quick responses and an understanding of your vision can greatly enhance the ordering process, ensuring that your needs and preferences are accurately captured.
Do Look for Freshness and Quality
Select a bakery that emphasizes using fresh ingredients in their products. Look for reviews that mention the quality and taste of the items to ensure you receive delectable treats that meet your expectations.
Do Check for Customization Options
Opt for bakers who offer customization for their cakes and sweets, as this allows you to create something unique for your event. This includes themes, flavors, and dietary modifications to suit any occasion.
Do Seek Recommendations for Unique Flavors
Find a baker known for their unique flavor offerings. Specialty flavors can make your dessert stand out, so consider those who offer a diverse menu or seasonal specialties to enhance your celebration.
Dont’s
Don't Overlook Flavor Quality
While a beautifully designed cake can impress visually, don't compromise on flavor quality. Several reviews highlighted that while cakes looked stunning, their taste often fell short. Ensure the service provider is known for both aesthetic and flavorful cakes to avoid disappointment.
Don't Ignore Delivery Timing
Punctuality in delivery is crucial, especially for special occasions. Some reviews mention that while cakes were beautifully made, delays or last-minute adjustments caused stress. Always confirm your baker's ability to deliver on time prior to placing an order.
Don't Neglect Dietary Needs
If you or your guests have specific dietary requirements, don't assume every baker will automatically accommodate them. Some reviews indicate that not all bakers are equipped to handle dietary restrictions, so always inquire beforehand to ensure a suitable selection.
Don't Settle for Poor Communication
Effective communication is vital for customizing your order successfully. Several satisfied customers praised bakers for their quick responses, but others experienced miscommunication issues. Ensure your chosen service provider demonstrates clear and prompt communication to avoid misunderstandings.
