I’ve known Jessica since she started the company and I trust her with my life and my food. I pick a monthly plan on the website with two meals per day, tailored to low carb and extra protein, and someone drops the food off every morning so I have lunch and dinner ready. I even sit down with my nutritionist and with Jessica to align my plan so my requirements translate directly into what I eat, which for me is kind of perfect. The only pain is the delivery window - it can be between 10 and 1 and sometimes even later, so I end up stuck at home for hours - but overall it’s reliable and the price feels worth it.

For me this is the best ice cream shop in Barcelona. He loves to make new recipes and try new flavors, and you can tell he is very passionate about his work; the ice creams are handmade with quality milk. I usually go two times a month and just enjoy my ice cream quietly there, and the last time was last Saturday. Price feels fair, a good compromise between price and quality, and now they’re also doing crepes and waffles since it’s not really ice cream season.

I’ve been using Jessica’s daily meal service for almost five years, with a two-year pause in the middle, and I’ve seen her business go from zero to where it is today. She has sort of a catering service for individuals where you get daily meals, one or two if you want, and you can adjust the macros - more vegetables, less carbohydrates, more protein - plus different plate sizes. I like it because it’s freshly cooked every day, delivered to my address, and if I let her know before 10 a.m. or 11 a.m. she’s happy to make changes. The delivery time can fluctuate like half an hour to an hour because routes change, but it’s always ready when I’m ready for lunch, and while it used to be cheaper and got more expensive, for the quality and the price I think it’s at a sweet spot.

Dos and Don’ts as an expat

Key dos and don’ts for selecting the perfect catering service for your event

Do’s
Do Prioritize Communication and Responsiveness
Select a catering service provider who demonstrates excellent communication skills from the outset. The right partner will promptly respond to inquiries, proactively provide updates, and remain available for any adjustments needed, ensuring a seamless planning experience.
Do Evaluate Menu Flexibility and Customization Options
Opt for a caterer that offers a variety of customizable menu options to accommodate your guests' dietary preferences and restrictions. Look for providers who are willing to tailor their offerings, ensuring every attendee finds something delicious to enjoy.
Do Consider Personalization and Unique Dining Experiences
Choose a catering service that excels in creating tailor-made experiences. A personal touch in menu selection and presentation can elevate your event, making it feel more special and memorable for both you and your guests.
Do Assess Quality and Freshness of Food
Make sure to inquire about the quality and freshness of ingredients used by potential caterers. High-quality, fresh ingredients not only enhance the flavor of the food but also reflect the professionalism and commitment of the catering provider.
Dont’s
Don't Ignore Communication Issues
Avoid catering companies with a history of poor communication. Reviews indicate that many customers value timely and clear communication before, during, and after the service, which can greatly impact your event's success.
Don't Assume Dietary Needs Will Be Accommodated
Be cautious of catering services that don’t explicitly mention their ability to handle special dietary requirements. Past reviews highlight the importance of confirming that the caterer can meet specific requests for allergies or preferences to avoid unsatisfactory experiences.
Don't Rely Solely on Online Reviews
While online reviews are beneficial, do not base your entire decision on them. It's essential to reach out and ask questions to gauge the caterer's responsiveness and service quality, as personal experiences can vary significantly.
Don't Overlook Set-Up and Clean-Up Charges
Ensure you clarify any additional charges related to set-up and clean-up with the catering service upfront. Customers have mentioned unexpected costs that affected their budget, so clear agreements before the event are crucial.
