I needed a kindergarten when we moved here and this was perfect: each class has two teachers, one in English and one in Catalan. We got feedback through WhatsApp every midday back then, now it’s in another app, and every afternoon we could talk to the teacher for 5 minutes, so communication felt really good. They did monthly projects, the 2-3 years old kids went to the library every month to pick up books and share them, and there were lots of outings in the last year. They even helped us with baby-led weaning, they are very professional, and the price felt fair for having two teachers per class.

My daughter is attending Bressol now, and for me the most important thing is that she is really happy to be there. Every day she comes home really happy, she tries to express what they were doing, how they played, and she always tells me that she ate and it was very tasty. I noticed the professionalism of the teachers and organizers, they are really attentive to every child, and I love that every day is something new with different themes, activities, healthy food, and detailed updates in the app about how she ate, slept, and what they did. We are really happy, and I still can’t get enough how lucky we were to find them.

I enrolled my child in this city nursery and it was great - we had really good follow-up and the whole teaching team was at their best. Damaris was my child’s teacher and she was extraordinary, a real stroke of luck for us, and the day ran smoothly from 8:30 to 5 with activities and care all day. I’m not going to talk about the infrastructures, but I will say the meals were varied and honestly that was the dark part - the year they switched to a company catering I didn’t like it at all. The price has increased since then and I know a lot of people are less happy, but overall we were very happy.

Frequently Asked Questions
What expats want to know before hiring kindergartens in Barcelona.
Are there English-speaking kindergartens in Barcelona?
Yes, and more do as the expat community grows. The hard part is knowing who is reliable before you book, so every one we list is reviewed by other expats who have actually used them.
What should I check before hiring kindergartens in Barcelona?
Read recent reviews, be clear about exactly what you need, and agree the scope and an estimate in writing before any work starts. For anything regulated, check they hold the right credentials for the job.
What is the most important thing to know before booking?
Be clear about what you want and get the price and scope agreed up front, so there are no surprises. Reading other expats' reviews is the quickest way to find someone who does the job well and communicates clearly.
What should I avoid when hiring kindergartens in Barcelona?
Avoid paying the full amount up front (a deposit can be fair), anyone who will not give a clear quote, and unusually cheap prices that get padded with extras later.
How do I explain what I need if my Spanish is limited?
A photo, a short video or a written list does most of the talking, and the professionals we list are used to international clients. Booking an English-speaking one takes the stress out of it entirely.
How do you say kindergartens in Spanish?
In Spanish, kindergartens are usually called guarderias. That is the word to search for or to ask a neighbour, though many professionals here are used to the English term too.
How do I find kindergartens I can trust in Barcelona?
Check the reviews and any credentials before you book. On Locallista the reviews are phone-verified and the ranking is based on real expat experience, not who paid the most.
