I enrolled my child in this city nursery and it was great - we had really good follow-up and the whole teaching team was at their best. Damaris was my child’s teacher and she was extraordinary, a real stroke of luck for us, and the day ran smoothly from 8:30 to 5 with activities and care all day. I’m not going to talk about the infrastructures, but I will say the meals were varied and honestly that was the dark part - the year they switched to a company catering I didn’t like it at all. The price has increased since then and I know a lot of people are less happy, but overall we were very happy.

I needed a kindergarten when we moved here and this was perfect: each class has two teachers, one in English and one in Catalan. We got feedback through WhatsApp every midday back then, now it’s in another app, and every afternoon we could talk to the teacher for 5 minutes, so communication felt really good. They did monthly projects, the 2-3 years old kids went to the library every month to pick up books and share them, and there were lots of outings in the last year. They even helped us with baby-led weaning, they are very professional, and the price felt fair for having two teachers per class.

I have a 1 year old baby and we chose Petits near our house because it’s very accessible. We met Damaris, she’s very friendly and really good with the babies, my baby is well connected with her, he smiles and responds whenever he sees her. They have activities every day, and at the end of the day we get feedback about how it went and what activities they did, which makes us feel more secure. The price felt normal for Barcelona and overall we are happy and like the service there.

Dos and Don’ts as an expat

Navigating summer camp choices: essential dos and don’ts for parents

Do’s
Do Seek Out Programs That Foster Personal Growth
Look for summer camps that prioritize not only physical skills but also personal development. Programs that incorporate lessons on resilience and self-belief can significantly enhance your child's overall growth and confidence.
Do Consider Facilities That Offer Engaging Activities
Opt for summer camps that provide a variety of engaging activities tailored to different interests. A well-organized camp ensures that all children are actively participating and having fun, making their experience memorable.
Do Check for Strong Community and Supportive Environment
Look for camps that promote a sense of community among participants and staff. A supportive environment where children feel like part of a family can greatly enhance their enjoyment and overall experience at camp.
Do Evaluate Their Special Event Offerings
Consider camps that offer additional services like birthday parties. This indicates that they are dedicated to creating special experiences and can enhance your overall perception of their commitment to children's enjoyment.
Dont’s
Don't Ignore Safety Standards
When selecting a summer camp, be sure to inquire about their safety protocols, as failure to follow safety standards can lead to accidents and injuries. Camps should have clear policies in place to ensure the safety and well-being of all children.
Don't Overestimate Activity Variety
Beware of camps that claim to offer a wide variety of activities without providing details. If the activities don't cater to varied interests and age groups, your child may not have the enriching experience you expect and might feel left out.
Don't Overlook Communication Quality
Always assess how well the camp communicates with parents. Poor communication regarding schedules, emergencies, or special events can create unnecessary stress and leave parents feeling uninformed and disconnected from their child's experiences.
